Warrel Dane
Title:Praises to the war machineWarrel dane ! This name can be familiar to you if you are a fan of Nevermore, because it’s simply about the name of the singer of Nevermore who takes out his solo project. For that purpose, he is going to surround itself with his fellow countrymen Peter Wichers ( Soilwork) in the guitar, the bass and the production, the Matt Wicklund (ex--Himsa) in the guitar. Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork / ex—Aborted). And of the world known enough in the scenemetal current. Rest has to notice that can give a formation of this level. The first thing which comes to the spirit is the comparison of Nevermore and this solo project, and to answer the question, I would say that it looks like but by remaining rather different. The first thing which would call back the group Nevermore is naturally the voice of Warrel dane. More melodic and with slower tempos, this project rings effectively directed in a direction more personal than probably wanted to express the singer. Melodies by moment take a form which the melancholic parts with arpeggios and slow soloes which base themselves in rhythmic heavy. And in opposition, we shall find naturally compositions more groovy which go to the sense of the good melodic rhythms heavy metal progressive as for example on ' the day rats went to war ' one of title the most epic of this album. Altogether the album is an indisputable success, Warrel dane knew how to find in this solo project a more personal support of expression and without putting itself in opposition with its convictions expressed in Nevermore. In wait of a new album of Nevermore, this album will fill without complexes the the fans!
'Warrel dane ! ce nom peux vous être familier si vous êtes fan de Nevermore, car il s’agit tout simplement du nom du chanteur de Nevermore qui sort son projet solo. Pour cela, il va s’entourer de ses compatriotes Peter Wichers (Soilwork) à la guitare, basse et production , Matt Wicklund (ex-Himsa) à la guitare. Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork / ex-Aborted,) .Donc voilà que du monde assez connu dans la scène métal actuelle. Reste a constater ce que peux donner une formation de ce calibre… La première chose qui vient à l’esprit est la comparaison de Nevermore et de ce projet solo, et pour répondre à la question , je dirais que ca ressemble mais en restant assez différent. La première chose qui rappellerait le groupe Nevermore est bien entendu la voix de Warrel dane. Plus mélodique et avec des tempos plus lents, ce projet sonne effectivement orienté dans un sens plus personnel que voulait probablement exprimer le chanteur. Les mélodies par moment prennent une tournure qui frôle la mélancolie avec des arpèges et des solos lents qui se fondent aux rythmiques lourdes. Et en opposition, on retrouvera bien entendu des compositions plus groovy qui vont dans le sens des bons rythmes mélodiques heavy metal progressif comme par exemple sur ' the day rats went to war ' un des titre les plus épique de cet album. Dans l’ensemble l’album est une réussite incontestable, Warrel dane a su trouver dans ce projet solo un support d’expression plus personnel et sans se mettre en opposition avec ses convictions exprimées dans Nevermore. En attente d’un nouvel album de Nevermore, cet album comblera sans complexes l’attente des fans !
Belphegor
Title:Bondage God Zombie'Bondage Goat Zombie' is already the seventh album composed by the Austrians since their signature on Nuclear Blast with the album Pestapokalypse IV. Since this time, the band attracts and of convain more and more public fan of extreme music metal. Belphégor is in the good way to become one of inevitable band of the black death stage actual. With this new album it can that phenomenon takes some more amplitude … Sounds of bells and moans diabolic at opening. from the first seconds of listening, they dive into the blasphemous world of Belphegor. Although the line up have some changes sudden, they will acknowledge one more time the true belphegor style; There is in this work the small touch in more which to my great surprise make probably of this album one the best of their career. Belphegor will not here content with making a violent and fast music, They offer this time, a darker and richer album. There is less of blastes and more mid-tempo than previously, Almost perfected musical structures Amplified by tunes which shall remain in you memorized, The group shows us that he can be renewed and to evolve in the good direction. It will be very difficult not to appreciate this devilishly divine album. This album is already for me an inescapable Opus of the extreme scene, has to get it necessarily! ! !
' Bondage Goat Zombie ' est déjà le septième album composé par les Autrichiens depuis leur signature sur Nuclear Blast avec l’album Pestapokalypse IV. Depuis, le groupe se cesse d’attirer et de convaincre de plus en plus de publique fan de métal extrême. Belphégor est dans la bonne voie pour devenir un des groupe incontournable de la scène black death actuel. Avec ce nouvel album il se pourrais que leur côte prenne encore plus d’amplitude … Sons de cloches et gémissements démoniaque en ouverture, dès les premières secondes d’écoute, on plonge dans l’univers blasphématoire de Belphegor. Bien que le line up ai subit quelques changements, on reconnaîtra une fois de plus le style de Belphegor ; mais avec un plus qui à ma grande surprise fais probablement de cet album un des meilleur de leur carrière. Le groupe ne se contentera pas ici de faire une musique violente et rapide, mais nous offre un album plus sombre et bien plus posé. Avec moins de blastes et plus de mid-tempo qu’auparavant , des structures musicales presque parfaites, amplifiées par des refrains qui vous resterons gravés dans la mémoire, le groupe nous montre qu’il est capable de se renouveler et d’évoluer dans le bon sens. Il sera très difficile de ne pas apprécier cet album diaboliquement divin ! En espérant que le groupe n’as pas atteint l’apogée de son savoir faire, car il me paraît bien difficile de faire mieux. Mais si ce n’est pas le cas, je n’ose même pas imaginer ce que pourrait être le successeur de ' Bondage Goat Zombie '. Cet album est déjà pour moi un Opus incontournable de la scène extrême, a ce procurer impérativement !
Venomous Concept
Title:Poisoned Apple"Venomous Concept" is a band of American death hardcore punk, formed in 2003 and takes out this day their third album, entitled "Poisoned Apple". But what is what it is like this bizarre thing? Could ' one wonder in it seen the small rabbits which, affected by an unknown substance lose their guts and their limb! My first reaction to the sight of this Cover of album, was negative, I thought at once of a group of grind funny downmarket and not very serious. But look at it to it closer, I was able to notice the musical presence of some personalities such as: Shane Embury ( napalm death), Kevin Sharp (Brutal thruth), Danny Lilker ( Nuclear assault / Brutal Thruth) & Danny Herrera (Napalm Death). That of the high (metal) society! But while what is what it can ' it give musically? To my great surprise, Venomous concept is a small musical cocktail of different kinds :such as : death grind punk hard core inspired of the years 80/90. The experiencesand the past influences of the members of the band are very present in the influences and in the tone of riffs. The highly-rated grind / punk is much more advanced, with simple, aggressive compositions but especially very effective. For the qualitée of the sound, we get closer to what did in the 90s, Not too clean and not too grotty just what is needed for a good return to basics. Altogether, although this concept seems one can special, it will finally show to be something of very well conceived and more effective than he appears to it. It will be a great album especially for the fans of Brutal Truth and Napalm Death !
Venomous Concept" est un groupe de punk hardcore américain formé en 2003 et sort à ce jour leur troisième album intitulé " Poisoned Apple ". Mais qu’est ce que c’est que ce truc bizarre ? pourrait’ on se demander à la vu des petits lapins qui, attaquées par une substance inconnue perdent leurs tripes et leur membre ! Ma première réaction à la vue de cette Couverture, fut négative, j’ai immédiatement pensé à un groupe de grind humoristique bas de gamme et pas très sérieux. Mais en y regardent de plus près , j’ai pu constater la présence de quelques personnalités musicale tel que : Shane Embury ( napalm death), Kevin Sharp (Brutal thruth), Danny Lilker ( Nuclear assault / Brutal Thruth) et pour finir Danny Herrera (Napalm Death). Que du beau monde, De quoi rendre perplexe non ? Mais alors qu’est ce que cela peut ‘il donner musicalement ? A ma grande surprise, Venomous concept est un petit cocktail de genres différents tel que death grind punk hard core inspiré des années 80/ 90. Les expériences passées des membres du groupe sont bien présentes dans les influences et dans la sonorité des riffs. Le coté grind / punk est mis bien plus en avant avec des compositions simples, agressives mais surtout très efficace. Niveau son , on se rapproche de ce qui se faisais dans les années 90, ni trop propre ni trop crade juste ce qu’il faut pour un bon retour aux sources. Dans l’ensemble, bien que ce concept paraisse un peux spéciale, il se révèlera être finalement quelque chose de très bien conçu et bien plus efficace qu’il n’y paraît. Se fier aux apparences serais une bien triste erreur car vous passerez a coté d’un super album surtout pour les fans de Brutal Truth et Napalm Death .
Ophiolatry
Title:Transmutation
For those who do not still know and they have to be many because Ophiolatrie is not another reference of the extreme music, it is the group which results from the brésil and which said ' bresil ',it’s necessarily rough and provocative . ' Ophiolatry doesn’t escape the rule.They had already proved their virulence with their previous album 'The Anti Evangelistic Process'. His successor will not decrease in a tone his blastes and his tempos. Unlike more in more chaotic and more intense, this album is difficult to collect on all its length. To believe that the brutality have no limits, the groups of death prove that to every release of album. On this album, it’s useless to look for of the melody either a musical because there isn’t. It is raw, rough and still rough … Ophiolatrie has no time to look for beautiful melodies which would please the majority of a public ' beautiful death ' they prefer the speed, the simplicity and especially to go up to the purpose to express them feelings without making of bends useless. But this album it isn’t simply rough and stupid, it is centred on the oppressive and resentful atmospheres and it is on this detail that the group differs of a simple group of rough death. OPHIOLATRY has a soul and we feel it throughout the listening. This album turns to a warned public who likes what is beyond the standards and the Human limits.Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas encore et ils doivent être nombreux car Ophiolatrie n’est pas encore une référence de la musique extrême, c’est un groupe qui provient du brésil et qui dit ' brésil ' dit forcément brutal et provocateur. Ophiolatry n’échappe pas à la règle. Ils avaient déjà prouvé leur virulence avec leur précédent album 'The Anti Evangelistic Process'. Son successeur ne diminuera pas d’un ton ses blastes et ses tempos . Au contraire de plus en plus chaotique et intense, cet album est difficile à encaisser sur toute sa longueur . A croire que la brutalité n’as pas de limites, les groupes de death le prouvent à chaque sortie d’album…. Sur cet album, inutile de rechercher de la mélodie ou bien une évolution musicale de la part du groupe car il n’y en a pas. C’est brut , brutal et encore brutal… Ophiolatrie n’a pas le temps de rechercher de belles mélodies qui plairaient à la majorité d’un public ' beautiful death ' ils préfèrent la rapidité, la simplicitée et surtout aller droit au but pour exprimer leur sentiments sans faire de détours inutile.
Mais cet album c’est pas tout simplement brutal et stupide , il est axé sur les atmosphères oppressantes et haineuses et c’est sur ce détail que le groupe diffère d’un simple groupe de brutal death. OPHIOLATRY a une âme et on le ressent tout au long de l’écoute. Cet album s’oriente vers un public averti qui aime ce qui est au-delà des normes et des limites Humaines.
These Belgians!!! They we shall always amaze... For those who do not still know Aborted, I could present them to you by describing them as by being a group of rough death inescapable metal of the current European scene Death metal. After various sound recording realizations and after numerous scenic performances these last years, Aborted plunges us, this time, favour to his quite new entitled album ' Strychine 213 ' in an insanity and a very deep universe... Throughout this album, we shall notice that every title is independent besides, every title in its interest, the more the titles pass, the more melodies and riffs stickers are for the meeting. It is thus an album which will distance itself probably from the others production of the same kind. The new arrived in the combo bring a touch of novelty to all the compositions of Aborted, Daniel Wilding indeed points out thanks to his very rough, perfectly well mastered and very technical game of battery ; As regards Sven Janssens, the bass player, is much more flooded in the mass of melody, all the same very present throughout the album, I would blame him for a lack of originality. To end I would add that the production and the sound of this album is very pleasant and very well produced, that risks not to please everybody, but I find personally that the sound is adapted at the rate of game of Aborted .A clear and powerful sound which emphasizes the technical subtleties and the melodies of guitars. Fan of rough death, if you are not convinced by this new opus, meeting very soon in one of concert of the tour of Aborted, they will know how to convince the most sceptic thanks to them live performances …
Ahhh… ! ! ! ! ces Belges !!! Ils nous épaterons toujours ... Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas encore Aborted, je pourrais vous les présenter en vous les décrivant comme étant un groupe de brutal death métal incontournable de la scène Death métal européenne actuelle. Après différentes réalisations discographiques et de nombreuses prestations scéniques ces dernières années, Aborted nous plonge, cette fois-ci, grâce a son tout nouvel album intitulé 'Strychine 213' dans une démence et un univers très profond... Tout au long de cet album, on remarquera que chaque titre est indépendant du reste, chaque titre à son intérêt, plus les titres passent, plus les mélodies et les riffs accrocheurs sont au rendez-vous. C'est donc un album qui se démarquera probablement des autres production du même genre. Les nouveaux arrivés dans le combo apportent une touche de nouveauté à l'ensemble des compositions d' Aborted, Daniel Wilding se fait bien remarquer grâce à son jeu de batterie très brutal, parfaitement bien maîtrisé et très technique; En ce qui concerne Sven Janssens,le bassiste, on le sens beaucoup plus noyé dans la masse de mélodie, tout de même bien présent tout au long de l'album, je lui reprocherais un manque d'originalité. Pour terminer je rajouterais que la production et le son de cet album est très plaisant et très bien produit, ça risque de ne pas plaire à tout le monde, mais je trouve personnellement que le son est adapté au rythme de jeu d’ Aborted, un son net et puissant qui met en valeur les subtilités techniques et les mélodies des guitares. Fan de brutal death, si vous n'êtes pas convaincu par ce nouvel opus, rendez-vous très prochainement dans l'un des concert de la tournée d'Aborted, ils sauront convaincre les plus sceptiques grâce à leur prestations live...
Arsis
Title:We are the nightmareThe young group of death black melodic out its first album in 2004, entitled ' In celebration of guilt ' followed this year of the newcomer: 'We Are The Nightmare'. Arsis is a group of death black melodic in the influences heavy metal. They combine brutality and unhealthy atmospheres, the whole builds on a melody very heavy metal.. It is a mixture of style who could leave perplexed those who associate badly the various musical genres in a single group. Here, this alliance of style finds its charm and can arouse interests for those who look for a different and innovative music. Thus, one do not can say that the group contents with redoing what they had already made on their first Opus. Composition are more urged on this album to see by moment hyper technical with guitarists' soloes virtuoso and break of battery technical. On this album the group looks has to express himself by the technic more than by the atmospheres. The group is perfectly squared and uses its less saturated good than this music style is in the habit of used. The singings of black type metal contrast completely with melodies and tempos of battery, without being for all that quoted of the plate.On the contrary both styles merge well enough. The complexity of this album arouses the need of several listening to encircle the musical interest of this album, which at first sight, could seem too heavy so he is complex and worked. This album will be probably very well perceived by the fans of extreme music and the criticism; or then completely thrown back by the one or the other one. It is the kind of group that we like or that we like in no way because they not one no references clear in style and which mixes extremes.
Le jeune groupe de death black mélodique sort son premier album en 2004, intitulé ' A célébration of guilt ' suivi cette année du nouvel arrivant : ' We Are The Nightmare '. Arsis est un groupe de death black mélodique aux influences heavy métal. Ils combinent brutalité et ambiances malsaines, le tout construit sur une mélodie très heavy métal. C’est un mélange de style qui pourrais laisser perplexe ceux qui associent mal les différents genres musical en un seul groupe. Ici, cette alliance de style trouve son charme et peux susciter l’intérêts pour ceux qui cherchent une musique différente et innovante. Donc, on ne peux pas dire que le groupe se soit contenté de refaire ce qu’ils avaient déjà fait sur leur premier Opus. Les composition sont plus poussées sur cet album voir par moment hyper technique avec des solos de guitaristes virtuose et des break de batterie hyper complexes. Sur cet album le groupe cherche a s’exprimer par la technique plus que par les ambiances. Le groupe est parfaitement carré et utilise des son bien moins saturé que ce style de musique a l’habitude d’utilisé. les chants de type black métal contrastent complètement avec les mélodies et les tempos de batterie, sans pour autant être a coté de la plaque. Au contraire les deux styles fusionnent assez bien. La complexité de cet album suscite le besoin de plusieurs écoutes pour cerner l’intérêt musical de cet album, qui au premier abord, pourrait paraître trop lourde tellement il est complexe et travaillé. Cet album sera probablement très bien perçu par les fans de musique extrême et la critique; ou alors complètement rejeté par l’un ou l’autre. C’est le genre de groupe qu’on aime ou que l’on aime pas du tout car ils n’on pas de références claire en matière de style et qui mélange les extrêmes.
Marionette is a band from Goteborg, Sweden founded in late 2005. They just released their first album (reviewed here), called
Spite. They claim their main influence is Japanese music mixed with Swedish hardcore. At the first listen, I immediately thought they sounded like the recent In Flames (they share the same producer, that could be why). Especially the vocals. I also feel some Killswitch Engage beats in there, but they remain heavier than them; anyway, this description should give you an idea. This band is good technically without being over the top. The music is tight, and the production quite dense I find, reminding me of the production Devin Townsend uses on his albums. It doesn’t really agree with my ears, and I find it difficult to listen in one go. The rhythm is fast, with heavy riffs. The voice gets a bit boring in my opinion after a while, as Axel screams most of the time, with very little variation; some clean singing, but that remains a rare occurrence. Not a band that I found very exciting personally, but I recon the amateurs of the genre would appreciate their music more than I do. A la première écoute, je les ai de suite associé à In Flames (Ils partagent d’ailleurs l ;e même producteur ce qui pourrait expliquer la similitude), particulièrement le chant. Certains passages me rapellent Killswitch Engage, mais ils restent néanmoins plus heavy que leur collègues américains. Je pense que cette description vous donnera une idée du son à s’attendre. Marionette est bon techniquement sans en faire trop. La musique est bien en place, mais la production est trop dense à mon gout, me rappelant celle de Devin Townsend sur ses albums. Je trouve cet album difficile à écouter d’un bout à l’autre. Le rythme est rapide, avec des riffs lourds. Je trouve la voix ennuyeuse au bout d’un moment, Axel crie presque sans arrêt, avec très peu de passage chantés. Sa voix est un mélange de In Flames et Arch Enemy. This is the 1st Masala’s album, the side project of Treponem Pal guitar player. This is a rock album, no samples or no industrial sounds whatsoever, only pure rock n roll. We can find a lot of influences like old progressive rock from the 70’s on track “My Friend”, or some Steve Vai influences on “Shining”. A song impressed me a lot, it’s the most melodic track of this album, and this is “Out of Time” which can be on an original sound track for a movie. And one film came to my mind when I heard this track “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain”. This song has a great mood which can fit to this movie musically speaking and with the lyrics. The packaging for this independent production is great too. The sound is so good for a self production, we can say Fred plays his instrument very well. Finally, if you want to discover a good unknown French band, I recommend that you listen this album which will be released on the 21th of june.
Voici le premier album de Masala, le projet solo du guitariste de Treponem Pal. Il s’agit d’un album bien rock, pas de samples et de son indus, mais du pur rock n roll. On peut retrouver beaucoup d’influences comme des parties très rock progressif type année 70 sur le titre « My Friend » ou bien encore une influence très Steve Vai sur le titre « Shining ». Une composition m’a vraiment marqué par son coté « ovni » sur ce cd. Il s’agit du titre « Out of Time » qui pour moi collerait parfaitement pour un film ! Et à la première écoute un nom de film m’est apparu, «Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain ». Ce titre a vraiment une ambiance qui pourrait vraiment coller à ce film tant musicalement qu’aux point de vue des paroles. De plus le packaging est très joli pour une autoprod. Un autre élément qui m’a vraiment frappé pour cette galette est le son. La prod est vraiment superbe, un son très limpide et surtout bien rentre dedans. LE sieur Fred a fait des merveilles avec son instrument. En conclusion, si vous voulez découvrir un bon groupe de Rock Français qui n’est pas encore assez connu dans notre contrée, je vous recommande chaleureusement cet album qui sort le 21 juin
Fellsilent
Title:The Hidden WordsHuge!! This is the perfect word to describe this album. The Hidden Words is the 1st album of this amazing band from Milton Keys in England.
If you know Tesseract, you know Fellsilent too, cause Acle the guitar player of Tesseract is playing in Fell silent too. When you start the cd you know where you are, in mathmetal world! I've never heard such complex and technical riffs in a 1st album, except in Textures or Meshuggah album! I'm sure this 2 bands have a huge influence inside fellsilent. Every song has catchy riffs, great vocal harmonies when they sing with clean voices.
How can they write such music???? Maybe they are influenced by something which is not from our world??? Who knows!! It's maybe my favorite album of the year The production is powerful. The artwork is a kickin' ass work. Everything is marvellous for this album! If you don't know fellsilent, go on their myspace page to discover this amazing band. I really hope we can find this album in shops cause everyone who like Textures, Meshuggah or mathmetal bands will love Fellsilent. A great thumb up for them!!!!Enorme! C’est le terme qui convient parfaitement pour décrire cet album The Hidden Words est le premier album de ce formidable groupe venant de Milton keys en Angleterre.
Si vous connaissez Tesseract, vous connaissez Fellsilent aussi, parce que Acle, le guitariste de Tesseract joue dans fellsilent. Quand vous commencez à écouter l'album, vous savez où vous vous trouvez, dans le monde du Mathmetal. Je n'ai jamais entendu des riffs aussi complexes et techniques dans un premier album, à part dans ceux de Textures ou bien de Meshuggah! Je suis sur que ces deux groupes ont eu une large influence au sein de fellsilent. Tous les titres ont des riffs accrocheurs, avec de jolies harmonies vocales quand il y a du chant clair. Mais comment peut on écrire une telle musique??? Peut être ont ils été influencé par quelque chose qui n'est pas de notre monde??? Qui sait....
La production est puissante, l'artwork est un travail de malade. Tout est merveilleux dans cet album Si vous ne connaissez pas fellsilent, allez sur les page myspace pour découvrir cet incroyable groupe. J'espere vraiment que l'on trouvera cet album dans les magasinscar tous ceux qui aiment Textures, Meshuggah ou bien les groupes de Mathmetal aimeront fellsilent. Un grand pouce tendu vers le haut pour eux!
