CDsAfter a break between 1998 2005 have caused by the world tour with Judas Priest , the band reforms itself into 2004 - 2005 to leave an album entitled "muerté" under nuclear blast. They return this year with new a opus named "small channel to ruin". is what this album will be on the level of their beginnings with False and Erase best work of the band ? As of the first second we realize that the group is more trustful. it proposes to us the truth gorefest, like has the glorious time of « Erase ». Thus not of nasty surprises for this time. the voices are unchanged and the style always also death like their first albums. the titles are very goods worked and the composition are sharp and violent, contrary has their last albums which one be very disappointing for the majority of the fans of the band. the music is brutal and is more inspired. we can feel a revival and one wishes on behalf of the group to reconquer a new public and its own public disappointed in the past. Gorefest really leaves its tomb this time and not for nothing, because has my opinion, it is one of best album of their career, nothing is to be thrown on the contrary one would still like some…
the band was exceeded, it is a true and very good surprise !Apres un break entre 1998 a 2005 suite à la tournée avec Judas Priest, les Hollandais se reforment en 2004/05 pour sortir un album intitulé « la muerté » sous le label nuclear blast. Ils nous reviennent cette année avec un nouvel opus « rise to ruin ». Cette nouvelle oeuvre sera t’elle à la hauteur de leurs débuts avec False et Erase : albums qui on fait leur réputation ? Dès les premières secondes on se rend compte que le groupe as repris de l’assurance et nous propose du vrai gorefest comme à l’époque de erase. Donc pas de mauvaises surprises pour cette fois, les voix restent inchangées et le style toujours aussi death que leurs premiers albums, les titres sont très biens travaillés et les compositions on du caractère. Contrairement à leurs derniers albums qui on étés très décevants pour la majorité des fans du groupe, la musique est plus brutale et bien mieux inspirée, on sent un renouveau et un désir de la part du groupe de reconquérir un nouveau public et son propre public déçu par le passé. Gorefest sort vraiment de sa tombe cette fois et pas pour rien ! car a mon avis « rise to ruin » est un des meilleur album de leur carrière. Rien n'est à jeter au contraire, on en redemanderait presque….
On peut dire que le groupe s’est surpassé, Et prouve que gorefest as encore des ressources, c’est une très bonne et véritable surprise !
Forever In Terror
Title: In The TidesStill a new young band of melodic death/ trash coming from the USA (average age 17 years) they signed on Métalblade record. It is impressive enough for a metal band which leaves no share. to begin the chronicle as of the beginning we feel that the group do not have a personal style and that it draws its inspiration in several styles such as the death/thrash and hardware core with a small key of heavy metal spirit. as of the beginning we feel Well that the whole of the music is well produced and hold the road, we weary ourselves rather quickly during listening, the song is too repetitive and does not vary enough. The use of saturation in the voices starts to become aggravating in this style of music and especially here, I would have more seen one singer in the kind of amorphis that would have really very changed. It is a pity because the music in it even is really not uninteresting. the riffs are effective and the unit is quite composed. the whole of the album misses originality. it is a band moreover in a mase of groups which are repeated and drowned in a style which starts to saturate himself. The group is still very young I think that with more maturity and of experiment they will be able to become more effective and to convince the public one, it is already well to have signed on a great label such as Metalblade , hardest will be there to remain….
Encore un nouveau groupe tout jeune ( moyenne d’age 17 ans) de death thrash mélodique en provenance des usa signé sur Métalblade. C’est assez impressionnant pour un groupe qui sort de nul part. alors pour commencer, d’entré de jeu on sent que le groupe n’as pas un style personnel et qu’il puise son inspiration dans plusieurs styles tel que le death / thrash et hard core avec une petite touche de heavy métal. Bien que l’ensemble de la musique est bien produite et tiens la route, on se lasse assez vite, le chant est trop répétitif et varie que très peux. L’utilisation de la saturation dans les voix commence à devenir agaçant dans ce style de musique et surtout ici. J’aurais plus vu un chanteur dans le genre d’amorphis ca aurais vraiment tout changé ! c’est dommage car la musique en elle même est vraiment pas inintéressante les riffs sont efficace et l’ensemble est bien composé. On peux juste regretter le manque d’originalité c’est un groupe de plus dans une multitude de groupes qui se noient dans un style qui commence à s’auto saturer. Le groupe est encore un peux jeune, je pense qu’avec un peux plus de maturité et d’expérience , ils pourront devenir plus efficace et convaincant, c’est déjà bien d’avoir signé sur un gros label tel que Metalblade le tout est d’y rester le plus longtemps possible….
At All Cost
Title:Circle of DemonsIt is very difficult to categorize this album, It is all the kinds of metal musics at the same time : death in the rythmics, with heavy métal passages at the guitars and vocals, sometimes of punk tempo battery . in more of the chorus which give an additional point of the style néo punk métal to the unit. « At all cost » decided to seems to any other band and all the ban at the same time… It is enough diverting like process. And the result, let us not speak about it... you will like or you will not like at all. It is impossible to appreciate this album partially. Although all the styles of their influences are represented in their music, the unit is not incoherent as one could think, it. On the contrary, it is amazing as all various sonorities is harmonized to give once recorded a music of a new kind. In my opinion It is impossible that this album likes unanimously of criticisms. Thus I recommend to each one not the proud one with the croniques ones, but to form its own opinion about the group. Because we can’t say that is bad or excellent but rather "differing"…
Il est très difficile de catégoriser cet album. C’est un peux tous les genres de musiques métal à la fois : un peux death dans les rythmiques avec des passages heavy métal à la guitare / vocales et des tempo punk a la batterie par moments, en plus des chorus qui donnent une pointe supplémentaire du style néo punk métal à l’ensemble. « At all cost » on décidé de ressembler à aucun autre groupe et à tous les groupes en même temps… c’est assez déroutant comme processus et le rendu n’en parlons pas... on aimera ou on aimera pas du tout, il est impossible d’apprécier partiellement cet album. Bien que tous les styles de leurs influences soient représentés dans leur musique, l’ensemble n’est pas incohérent comme on pourrais le penser. Au contraire c’est stupéfiant comme le toutes les sonorités diverses s’harmonise pour donner une fois enregistré une musique d’un tout nouveau genre qui ne peux pas laisser indifférent l’auditoire. Il est impossible à mon avis, que cet album face l’unanimité face aux critiques. donc je recommande à chaque un de ne pas forcement s’y fier mais de se faire sa propre opinion sur le groupe. Car on ne peux pas dire que se soit mauvais ou excellent mais plutôt «différant » Une étrangeté mitigée a découvrir ou à bannir…
The Agonist
Title:Once Only ImaginedThe Agonist (formerly The Tempest) is a band from Montreal, Canada. They play metal music, fronted by a (rather beautiful) lady. “Once only imagined” is as far as I know their first album. Their metal is up to good standards, and I enjoyed their album (which will be released the 14th of August). Think Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy, Kittie, even Trivium at times... The vocals are a mix of screamed & clean vocals (which I like); I would say that the screams sound kinda like what Killswitch Engage does, and the clean voices sound a bit like Kittie (when they are not shouting). A very versatile, beautiful and interesting voice / singing. Although lyrics can be a bit political at times, mentioning our need to protect the planet… The music is very tight, solid and heavy, with riffs containing loads of stops, kind of like Killswitch Engage. Some great guitar solos, very melodic. You will tell me that it is a copy of Killswitch. Well, actually no. There are some similarities, but hey, almost everything has been done in rock / metal, and it is hard to create something new. The Agonist follows the trend, I guess, but they do it successfully and with taste. I did enjoy their album, with quality vocals and music. The production of the album is very good. Great sound, clear, well defined. The mix is very good, and all the instruments can be heard. I would recommend you to listen to The Agonist if you are into the bands mentioned above, or if you are simply into metal. I think they are really worth checking out. The Agonist (initiallement The Tempest) est un groupe de Montreal, Canada. Ils jouent du métal, avec une gente demoiselle aux commandes. “Once only imagined” est apparemment leur premier album. Leur musique est de bonne qualité, et j’ai bien apprécié leur album, qui va sortir le 14 aout. Je rapproche leur musique à Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy, Kittie, même Trivium parfois... Le chant est un mélange de cris et de voies claires (tout ce que j’aime). Les cris ressemblent à Killswitch, et les voies claire à Kittie (quand ces dernières ne crient point). Un chant très polyvalente, belle et intéressant (oui oui, je parle du chant). Les paroles sont parfois un peu politiques, mentionnant le besoin de sauver la planète (entre autres)… La musiques est très précise, solide et lourde, avec des riffs contenant des stops, à la Killswitch Engage. Beaucoup de solos de guitares, assez techniques et bien mélodiques. Vous allez certainement me dire « ou la la , ca a l’air d’être une copie de Killswitch ». Et bien non. Même si parfois la musique s’y rapproche, le groupe sonne comme The Agonist ; cela dit il est de nos jours assez difficile de créer quelque chose de complètement neuf dans le rock / métal….. The Agonist suit la mode, je suppose, mais le fait avec succès et gout. La production de l’album est très bonne. Un très bon son, clair et bien défini. Le mix est également très bien, chaque instrument a sa place, et peut être entendu clairement. Je recommande d’écouter The Agonist si vous écoutez déjà les groupes mentionnés au-dessus, ou si vous êtes intéressés dans le métal.
